It was just another day for Dubai-based chef Scott Price, who oversees operations at Folly. However, the star chef got quite a shock when his hero, Manchester United footballer Ryan Giggs, surprised him inside the kitchen of his Souk Madinat Jumeirah restaurant.

The football star, who has more trophies than any other footballer, visited Folly with a group of friends on September 30. After sampling the dishes and learning that Price had once worked for Gordon Ramsay, Giggs specifically asked to meet the chef.

The 43-year-old quizzed Price on the inspiration behind the restaurant, as well as took part in a quick masterclass to learn how to cook some of the signature dishes. He also posed for pictures with the Folly team.

Price, who runs the restaurant with fellow chef and friend Nick Alvis, said: “Ryan really surprised me about how much he knew about food, and he really enjoyed getting in the kitchen.

”I have cooked for famous people before, but to have your all-time hero actually come into the kitchen left me stunned.”

Folly opened early this year, offering views of the myriad Madinat waterways, Burj Al Arab and Arabian Gulf.
