Tom Lawrence: Ryan Giggs chats have given me platform to build on

The Manchester United youngster was handed his Old Trafford debut by Welsh superstar Giggs against Hull at the end of the season.

The 20-year-old is now in line for his first Wales cap as Chris Coleman's injury-hit Dragons - without Gareth Bale and Aaron Ramsey among others - face a Dutch side bound for the World Cup in Brazil.

Lawrence said: "He gave me my debut which was massive for my career and he has given me advice and guidelines along the way. I have taken on board everything he tells me.

"It's a great help to have someone like that believe in you and I want to push on.

"Now I have an opportunity to do well for my country and hopefully I can make my debut, catch the eye and make sure I get myself a place for when the Euro 2016 qualifiers start later this year."

Another man in line to win his first cap is Hull defender James Chester.

The 25-year-old qualifies for Wales through his mother, who was born in Rhyl.

And he has no intention of just making up the numbers in Coleman's squad.

"I've come to international football because I want to play," he said. "I don't want to be sat on the bench.

"It's up to me to prove myself to everyone that I'm good enough to play."
