Giggs: Man Utd will survive Scholes and I retiring

Ryan Giggs is confident Manchester United will survive when he and Paul Scholes eventually hang up the boots.

The Welshman insists both he and Scholes are replaceable at Old Trafford – just as legends like Bryan Robson, Eric Cantona and Roy Keane were in the past.

“It isn’t impossible,” he said. “That’s the thing about United. Even in my time the players that have left – Robson, Cantona, David Beckham and Keane – the club moves on.

“We played differently when I first came to the club. It was 4-4-2 with flying wingers. Now it’s different. We play 4-3-3 – the manager chops and changes the way we play and we’ve got the players to do that.

“No player has directly replaced Roy Keane in the way that he used to play. It will be the same with me and Scholes. Players will come in, but they will be different players.”
