Ander Herrera criticised by Ryan Giggs for Huddersfield comments

Ryan Giggs has questioned Ander Herrera's decision to speak out about the Manchester United players' attitude following their shock defeat to Huddersfield.

United went down 2-1 to the promoted Yorkshiremen on Saturday and the Spaniard admitted in a TV interview afterwards the Reds had been outfought.

His comments prompted an angry response from manager Jose Mourinho in his post-match press conference.

“I heard Herrera in the flash interviews saying the attitude and desire was poor,” he said. “Oh my God.

“When a player says that, when a player feels that, I think they should all go to the press conference and explain why, because I cannot explain that.”

United great Giggs was unhappy with Herrera questioning his team-mates' desire to win.

He said: “I am a little bit surprised at Ander Herrera's comments though because you wouldn't really comment about your team-mates, you leave that to the manager.

“When you start questioning you team-mates' work rates, even if they weren't at it, it can set a dangerous precedent.”
