Ryan's six centuries

After his milestone match at Spurs, we recall when Ryan Giggs completed his other centuries of league appearances...

Thirty-three months after his debut against Everton, Ryan Giggs made his 100th league appearance in the last game before Christmas 1993.

The Welshman, fresh out of his teen years, started on the bench against Aston Villa but came on for Lee Sharpe late on as the Reds won 3-1 with last-gasp goals from Eric Cantona and Paul Ince. Giggs and co went on to be champions for the second time.

Ryan marked his double century with a goal in the 2-1 home win over Wimbledon in 1996/97- a season in which United won the league again but lost Cantona to retirement.

Giggs' 300th league game came in another title-winning term, 2000/01, as the Reds won 2-1 away at Coventry, and his 400th match yielded the same scoreline, this time at Bolton, in 2003/04. Ryan's 500th appearance arrived in April 2007, at home to Sheffield United, but he'd soon have something more important to celebrate as United reclaimed the title.
