Giggs: "Waiting for Man United vs Barcelona, our revenge."

Ryan Giggs now belongs to Golden Foot legends of football. His footprints will lay soon on the Champions Promenade of Montecarlo next to Maradona’s, Ronaldinho’s and Totti’s, who won the prestigious award last year. In 22 years with Manchester United Giggs has won something like 12 times the Premier League, 4 FA Cups, 2 UEFA Champions League, and 1 Club World Cup, among many other awards. He tells www.goldenfoot.com about his feelings of a special night in Monaco…

Chelsea main rivals - Giggs

Ryan Giggs believes Chelsea pose the biggest title threat to Manchester United, not Manchester City.

The huge spending by billionaire owner Sheikh Mansour has propelled City into the title race, after years in the shadow of their near neighbours.

The Red Devils are only above their city rivals at the summit of the Premier League on goal difference after a flying start to the season by both teams.

However, while Giggs acknowledges City have some world-class stars, he feels Chelsea represent the biggest challenge as a team.

Giggs - Barca can be beaten

Ryan Giggs insists it is not 'impossible' to beat Barcelona and is confident Manchester United can learn the lessons from recent defeats by the European champions.

United beat Barca over two legs in the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League in 2008 before going on to win the final courtesy of a penalty shoot-out success over Chelsea.

However, the Red Devils were soundly beaten by Barca in Rome in the 2009 final before again being outclassed by the Spanish giants in last season's showpiece at Wembley.

[Pre-season] Barcelona 1-2 Manchester United

No Messi, no problem. Two months after Champions League final heartache, United fans finally had something to celebrate against Barcelona, as the Reds beat the European Champions 2-1 at FedEx Field in Washington DC.

Without their Argentinian playmaker (or Xavi, Dani Alves, Javier Mascherano, Gerard Pique and Carles Puyol), Barcelona lacked much of the creativity and movement that tore the Reds apart in May's Champions League final.

Champions League Final : Barcelona 3-1 Manchester United

Sometimes you just have to hold your hands up and admit defeat.

Champions League : Manchester United 4-1 Schalke 04

United turned on the style to make absolutely certain of a place in the 2011 Champions League final, firing four goals past Schalke in an enthralling semi-final second leg at Old Trafford.

Antonio Valencia and Darron Gibson put the Reds well and truly in the driving seat with two first-half strikes and although Jurado pulled a stunning goal back for Schalke, also before the break, Sir Alex Ferguson's double chasers went on to win comfortably thanks to a second-half brace from the outstanding Anderson.
