Ryan Giggs: Derby will be decisive

Ryan Giggs expects the Premier League title race to be decided by the Manchester derby at the end of April and is continuing to live his dream of playing for Manchester United.

United opened up a three-point lead at the top of the table on Monday evening after a nervy 1-0 home success over Fulhammade it six successive wins.

The reigning champions have overhauled Manchester City in recent weeks, with their local rivals having stuttered away from home since the turn of the year.

With eight games to go, the Red Devils are favourites to lift a record 20th title, but still have to make the short trip to the Etihad Stadium, where City boast a 100 per cent record this season.

That showdown is on Monday 30th April and evergreen midfielder Giggs predicts it will be the defining fixture in the run-in.

Giggs, who made his United debut over 20 years ago, notched up his 900th appearance for the club last month after signing a one-year contract extension.

The former Wales international has also been mooted as an eventual United manager, but Giggs is determined to extract every last drop out of his playing career.

He added: "For now, I just want to play football but I'm prepared for my life after retirement.

"Becoming manager of Manchester United? We'll see, for now I just want to enjoy the moment.

"My goal as a youngster was to play one game for Manchester United. I achieved that dream, which I'm continuing to live at 38. I could not ask for more."
