Giggs second in the all-time Nuts greats

DISCERNING readers of Nuts, which trumpets itself as the UK’s most popular men’s magazine, have voted Ryan Giggs second in their top 20 all-time players in the Premier League.

Welsh veteran Giggs, now 37, is one of only six current footballers included in the list voted on by 30,000 fans, aged 16-30, asked to name those who made the most impact on the league since 1992.

The results provide a clear indication that the stars of yesteryear provide more inspiration than the current crop.

Topping the list is Arsenal’s Dennis Bergkamp, ahead of Giggs, Alan Shearer, Thierry Henry and David Beckham.

Nuts editor Dominic Smith said: “Many of our readers would have been kids when the likes of Cantona, Zola and Shearer were at the top of their game.

“Our readers are true football fans and it’s clear that what really impresses them is performance on the pitch, not off it.”
