Giggs - Let's limit mistakes

Ryan Giggs wants Manchester United to limit the mistakes as they chase a record-making 19th title this term.

The Red Devils agonisingly lost out on the title by just a point to Chelsea last year but already trail their rivals by two points this time after Sunday's 2-2 draw at Fulham.

Sir Alex Ferguson's side could have won the game but Nani's late penalty was saved before Brede Hangeland nodded home a leveller.

Giggs admits United need to limit the mistakes as they chase the title, which he sees as the No.1 priority this season, but at least they did not lose, after the Red Devils tasted defeat in seven top-flight games last season.

He told MUTV: "The Premier League is probably the most important after losing the title by a point last season.

"We lost far too many last year. They were games we were capable of winning too.

"That was the most disappointing thing. You know you are going to slip up during a season, and every away game is going to be tough, but you have to limit the mistakes."

Stand-in skipper Nemanja Vidic - who lost Hangeland as the Norwegian made his way through a crowd of bodies to power home Damien Duff's corner - also wants United to cut out the mistakes.

"It's a bad result, especially when we were in such a good position going into the last minutes of the game," said the Serbian.

"A draw is difficult to take and we feel real disappointment about what happened in the end."

He added: "We need to improve at set-pieces.

"We shouldn't be allowing them to score again two minutes from the end."

But Vidic does not see any reason for panic with four points already in the bag from two matches.

Vidic added: "We have had some bad results at the beginning of seasons, so we don't want to get down after this one result.

"There are some points we need to look at with the goal we lost and we must make sure it doesn't happen again.

"But hopefully we will be stronger by the time we play the next game."
