Ryan's early years

"Manchester United believe we may be seeing the start of a very special career here this afternoon.

"Giggs, the young Welshman who caused such a stir when he signed for the club at the end of last year, is getting an early opportunity to make his mark in the big league.

"Alex Ferguson has said he's the most outstanding talent he's ever worked with of his age."

- ITV commentator Clive Tyldesley, on Giggs' debut

How time flies when you're winning trophies and playing for one of the biggest clubs in the world...

Ryan Giggs has now been a first-team player for 20 years, dating back to 2 March 1991 when he made his debut as a substitute against Everton. He says he has "hazy" memories of the occasion, and he's not the only one!

To remind us all of how the fresh-faced Welsh teenager broke through at Old Trafford, including his historic maiden steps in the senior team and the goal considered to be his first against Manchester City (via a Colin Hendry deflection). Enjoy.
